DynaTouch Donates Temperature Scanning Kiosk to Local School

With children returning to school this August, IDEA Public Schools in San Antonio, TX had to develop a plan that would allow for safe entry into their facilities. Amongst other protocols that IDEA schools implemented to keep their students and staff safe, when classes began, staff members were manually taking temperatures of those entering the building to help screen for COVID-19 related threats.

In response to this concern, DynaTouch donated a self-service temperature scanning kiosk to its local IDEA school, South Flores. Now, staff members at the school no longer need to manually take temperatures; students are empowered to do so themselves using contactless technology.

These Lobby Sentinel Kiosks use facial recognition software to safely detect a person’s temperature and determine whether they have a fever before entering the building. After standing in front of the kiosk for just a few seconds, the user will be presented with a green or red light to display whether their temperature implies a risk of transmission.

Though Texas public schools are not allowed to enforce the temperature reading of any students, the new Lobby Sentinel Kiosk at IDEA Public School South Flores has certainly sparked some interest. Curious about how the system works and excited to see their green or red results, students have seemed more interested in opting to get their temperature scanned at the new kiosk than they were to do so previously by a staff member. The school’s administration is excited to see how the kiosks will help with COVID-19 mitigation in the future.
